Yum Yum !!

Decided to start weaning Kimi as he has been so disinterested in milk of late. Guess, he wants something more exciting than just boring milk. But you need to drink your milk, baby...

Anyhow, today's foray was a successful one! I gave Kimi some plain Rice Cereal from Heinz and Kimi loves it! He even opens his mouth when the spoon approaches. Hope this is a good sign!

Patience baby, soon mummy will add purees to make your meals more yummy!

I Love Puppets

I've had a penchant for puppets since I was a little girl. Puppets are also a good way to reach out to children, whether for communication or teaching. It allows children to learn thru play - effective and recommended too. Hence, I've started buying puppets for Kimi.

Although these do not have a moveable mouth, they are relatively cheap at only S$3+ per pc so I got them nevertheless. I've also ordered more puppets - will feature once I've received them!

Started to use it when I got it and Kimi seems to like the pig best... hmmm, I wonder why, cos he's also born in the year of the pig? hahaha!
Oh, also bought this piggy book which is sooo cute and some soft pacify holders.

My Very Own Disneyland!

Hb quickly assembled the exersaucer so that Kimi can play in it. He seems to enjoy it and even know how to turn around in it! So clever my little baby!

Hence, this is now fondly known as Kimi's Disneyland!

Toys & Clothes Galore from NYC

Been wanting to get the best exersaucer for Kimi so it can not only keep him occupied but helps to stimulate his motor skills. For me, gives me a bit of time to do some chores around the house.

After reccing for sometime now, found that the Evenflo exersaucer is what I've been looking for - able to rock, bounce and rotate. This model can even be converted to a play table when Kimi outgrows the exersaucer.

So this exersaucer shall be IT! Asked hb to lug this back since he was going to have a flight to the States...ermm.. plus a few others which I have been eyeing.

But they aren't jus toys, they are good, educational toys aimed at stimulating and enhancing motor skills, etc, etc.

Well, guess there's always a good excuse to buy something.. better don't let hb see this... But being the doting father & husband, he lugged my whole shopping list back! Some were brought back by Julie as she made a surprise trip back to Singapore to be with her mum.

Preparing for Travels

Yippee! Bought an inflatable tub today for Kimi in preparation of any impending holidays - can't lug that big plastic tub with me can I?

When I got home, I quickly blew it up and bathed Kimi in it. He loved it as it's so colourful! Throughout the bath, he kept looking at the cartoons and smiling! So cute!

Too bad I can't use it all the time as it's quite difficult to carry around with water in it and I don't have such a large bathroom to place this on the floor to bathe Kimi. So, for the time being, the old plastic tub will suffice.

How To Be A Towkay?

What is a Towkay? Our foreign friends may ask? A Towkay is loosely translated as "Head of Household", which in otherwords also mean "big boss".

So for those aspiring to be Towkays, take a leaf from Kimi's book on the how's, do's & don'ts.

March Reflections - Baby's Breath & Sleeping Angels

Some of the most precious things are the simplest and really just P-R-I-C-E-L-E-S-S --The smell of your baby's breath and the look of him sleeping peacefully. How do you put a price on this? Impossible.

But, yet again, these are daily mundane things that if you do not stop to notice or savour them, will be gone forever. Babies grow so fast that sometimes I fear missing out on Kimi's developments & silly antics that would have made my day.

Not sure if you noticed this, a baby's breath is so comforting and sweet-smelling anytime of the day! No morning breaths, nothing at all, just the sweet smell of milk n mouth. To those who have not smelled it, try it and you'll know what I mean, you'll be hooked. Just like how we love the smell of babies!
I love smelling Kimi's breath. I heard that once they start to eat, all these will be gone so for now, I'm taking in as much as possible before Kimi goes full fledge on food.

As Kimi moves into the 3rd month mark, he is also getting more sociable & more smiley. He's such a social butterfly and a happy baby! He'll smile at the drop of a hat or any funny face. I'm beginning to feel like a clown now, always making myself silly just to get that gummy smile from Kimi.

These are life's simple pleasures for me now and my reward as a SAHM (Stay At Home Mum). Some days can be crazy while others are better. Everyday I wish that it would be the best for me & Kimi.

Kimi's First Aided Flip

I had left Kimi at Jen's place to run some errands today. When I returned, I had a pleasant surprise!!

Jen told me that Kimi is starting to flip oradi - Gosh!! So fast?? Of course not on his own but aided.. meaning - we have to nudge his bum but that's a cool feat for a 2 month & 11 days old baby!!

Well done, Sweetie!!

Kimi's First Walk In The Park

After shopping in town, we decided to bring Kimi for a short stroll at MacRitchie Reservoir since it was still bright & cheery in the evening.

Although it was a nice stroll, the weather was terrible as it was so humid and not a drop of wind! We'll try another park next time!

At last we managed to catch some family shots here...

1 Face, Many Expressions

It's amazing how a baby can go from smiling to crying mode in a space of a couple of seconds!!

February Reflections - Motherhood

Its the end of my 2nd month as a mother. These past 2 months have been tough. Kimi developed colic at 3 weeks old although he was fully breastfed. Apparently, my breastmilk was giving him colic. So, I struggled to continue breastfeeding him till he was a month old before switching to formula. This helped to stabilise him a little. Infacol also helped.

It is such agony when the best actually hurts him. So what do you do? Stop or continue to give him the best? Sometimes, I feel Life is such a laugh - when you have sufficient to feed, your baby cant' take your milk. To those whose baby can take mummy's milk, mummy do no have enough to suckle. It was an agonising decision to stop breastfeeding but one that is made with guilt, sadness and helplessness. Although, friends have been encouraging, I can't help but feel I'm a lesser mom because I can't give my baby the best.
(Left - Kimi, having his nap & looking like an angel)

But there is nothing I can do but hope that Kimi will still thrive on formula milk. I can only say that when he can eat, I will cook & prepare the best meals for him as a compensation. I hope Kimi will develop a varied and good palate like me, his mummy!

Looking back, I never thought motherhood would be so tough and I almost gave up. Luckily with the support of my sister I made it through.

Fortunately, Kimi develops pretty quickly and has started to respond to me and stimulus. He can smile and focus - this gave me the energy and fervour to shoulder on. And I could see sunshine again!

It's really not easy being a mother so toast to all moms in the world!
